The Process

Getting to Know the Business

Every brand has a personality, and mine starts with getting to know it. Before I ever posted anything for Prissy Hen, I spent time learning who they really are — not just what they sell.

The Prissy Hen family is funny. Genuinely, laugh-out-loud funny. And that personality was the whole opportunity. Too often, small business social media ends up feeling like it’s being run by a stranger — generic captions, stock photo energy, nothing that actually sounds like the people behind the counter. My job was the opposite of that: pull the family’s real personality out into the open, put it on camera, and let it do what it does best — make people want to walk through the door and shop.

Building With the Owner

I work closely with DeAnn, the owner’s daughter, who runs the boutique day to day. Together, we turn everyday tasks — new inventory arriving, sales going live, restocks — into content built to actually perform on social media, not just document what happened in the store. Instead of a flat “new arrivals” post, it becomes a moment worth watching, sharing, and showing up for.

Carrying On a Sunday Tradition

Before Prissy Hen ever became a client, they had a tradition: every Sunday, a photo of the sunset, a Bible verse, and a short reflection to encourage their customers and share the gospel. It’s a small thing on paper, but it meant something to the people following along.

When I took Prissy Hen on, it was important to them that these posts continued. Every Sunday, I’m the one posting that verse and reflection now, and it’s become one of the most rewarding parts of working with this family. It’s a reminder that showing up authentically for a brand also means honoring what already made it special before I ever got there.
